AJ Chambers are working with a Leading Law firm operating across multiple practice areas, advising clients on complex, high-value matters.

As part of their Digital Transformation strategy, they are investing heavily in data, AI, and modern information management practices to enhance client service, operational efficiency, and regulatory compliance.

We are looking for a Data Governance Manager who will be responsible for establishing and embedding Data governance practices across the firm. This role sits at the intersection of IT, Risk & Compliance, Information Security, and legal practice teams.

You will be responsible for:

Ensuring the data is secure, compliant, high-quality, and managed in line with legal, regulatory, and client confidentiality requirements.
Develop and implement a firm-wide data governance strategy.
Define and monitor data quality standards across client, matter, and financial systems.
Define data ownership, stewardship, and accountability models.
Establish policies for data classification, retention, archival, and disposal.

Requirements:

5+ years experience in Data Governance, Information Governance, or Data Management.
Experience working within a law firm or regulated professional services environment strongly preferred.
Strong understanding of GDPR and UK data protection law.
Awareness of AI governance and ethical data use frameworks (Nice to have)

They are a UK wide firm with their HQ based in London. This will be a hybrid model with 3 days in the office and 2 from home. London is preference however have offices in Birmingham, Cambridge too.
