Job Description

**Job title:** Data Governance Manager **Role Summary:** Drive the creation, implementation, and continual improvement of enterprise‑wide data governance. Bridge IT, risk, compliance, information security, and legal teams to secure data integrity, regulatory compliance, and high quality across client, matter, and financial systems. **Expectations:** * Senior data governance professional (5+ years). * Proven leadership in setting data policies, standards, and metrics. * Ability to influence stakeholders across business, legal, and IT. * Strong analytical, communication, and project‑management skills. **Key Responsibilities:** * Develop and execute a firm‑wide data governance strategy. * Define and enforce data quality, classification, retention, archival, and disposal standards. * Establish data ownership, stewardship, and accountability frameworks. * Monitor compliance with legal, regulatory, and client confidentiality obligations (e.g., GDPR, UK data protection law). * Coordinate cross‑functional initiatives to embed data governance into daily operations. * Deliver training and awareness programs on data best practices. * Evaluate emerging AI governance and ethical data use frameworks and recommend integration where applicable. **Required Skills:** * Data Governance / Information Governance / Data Management expertise. * Deep knowledge of GDPR and UK data protection law. * Experience designing data classification, retention, and disposal policies. * Understanding of data quality frameworks and metrics. * Strong stakeholder engagement and communication. * Project management (Agile or Waterfall). * Familiarity with AI governance principles (desirable). **Required Education & Certifications:** * Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Law, or related field. * Professional certification preferred: Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP/UK), Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), or Data Governance Professional (DGP).
