About the Company
Our client is a market leading venture capital firm that partners with exceptional founders in the tech space.
About the Role
We are looking for a Financial Controller to join the finance team on a 9 to 12 month contract basis to cover a period of maternity leave.
Responsibilities
Financial Control & Reporting
Own the quarterly management accounts for the UK and Guernsey entities, including variance analysis and commentary
Oversee month-end and quarter-end close processes across all corporate entities
Maintain strong balance sheet control, including accruals, prepayments, and intercompany balances
Prepare annual statutory accounts and act as primary contact for external auditors
Tax
Oversee UK VAT compliance across the group, including partial exemption considerations and quarterly VAT returns
Manage the UK corporation tax process for the corporate member above the LLP, including computations, provisions, and filings
Act as primary liaison with external tax advisors on VAT and corporate tax matters
Ensure appropriate tax treatment across intercompany arrangements and cost allocations
Regulatory & Compliance Reporting
Prepare and oversee FCA regulatory reporting for the UK investment adviser
Support regulatory reporting requirements for the Guernsey manager, liaising with local administrators and advisors
Ensure ongoing compliance with relevant accounting, tax, and regulatory obligations
Partner Economics & Payroll
Manage partner distributions, including calculations, approvals, and payment processes
Oversee payroll, including partner remuneration, bonuses, and benefits
Support the Head of Finance with partner reporting and ad-hoc analysis related to compensation and economics
Team Management & Process Improvement
Thrive within a small finance team (total team size c.6), including oversight and review of the work of the team bookkeeper whilst maintaining accountability
Drive continuous improvement in processes, controls, and systems as the firm scales
Stakeholder Management
Act as a key finance contact for internal stakeholders, external auditors, tax advisors, fund administrators, and regulators
Support the Head of Finance with ad-hoc projects, structuring work, and strategic initiatives
Be willing and able to collaborate and contribute across the finance function to ensure business objectives are met in a lean team
You will need to have the following skills and experience to succeed
ACCA CIMA ACA
Previous experience in a similar financial controller or senior finance role
Strong MS Office applications – in particular, solid Excel skills
Experience in using accounting software such as NetSuite or Xero
