Technical Consultant

Introduction

This role sits at the heart of a secure national infrastructure programme, helping critical teams modernise how they work. It’s hands-on, delivery-focused, and all about turning complex operational processes into reliable automated solutions within a highly regulated environment.

Role Overview:

Location: London
Package: Contract (Inside IR35), rate negotiable, 12 months initially OR Permanent available
Industry: National infrastructure / secure government environment

What You’ll Be Doing:

Designing and building automated business processes from the ground up
Working directly with end users to understand how their operations really run
Translating real-world workflows into technical automation solutions
Configuring BPM and low-code platforms to deliver end-to-end processes
Developing workflow applications, reports, and user-facing components
Writing complex SQL to support process logic and reporting needs
Producing clear technical documentation and configuration artefacts
Supporting testing, deployment, and transition into live service
Ensuring everything meets strict security, governance, and quality standards
Contributing ideas to improve automation capability across the programme

Main Skills Needed:

Strong hands-on experience with BPM or low-code platforms (e.g. Appian, Pega, ServiceNow, Mendix)
Confidence designing and delivering technical automation solutions — not just documenting them
Solid SQL skills, including complex queries and joins
Front-end and reporting experience using HTML and JavaScript
Exposure to Enterprise Content Management platforms (ideally OpenText Content Server)
Understanding of identity, access management, and SSO concepts
Experience working in highly secure or regulated environments
Clear, confident communication when working directly with customers
Active EDV clearance (essential) and willingness to work fully onsite

What’s in It for You:

Long-term contract on a high-profile, secure programme
Market-aligned day rate with flexibility for the right experience
The chance to work on meaningful systems with real national impact
A genuinely technical role where you build, configure, and deliver
Exposure to enterprise-scale automation and transformation initiatives
Strong likelihood of extension beyond the initial term
