Project Manager - Cyber Security Maturity

Up to £400 per day outside IR35, initial 3 month contract with potential for extension

Remote working UK based with limited stakeholder engagement as required

Company & role

A large Critical National Infrastructure energy organisation is engaging an experienced Project Manager to shape and structure a Cyber Security Maturity programme. This is a short term contract focused on programme definition and planning rather than hands on technical delivery. The organisation has multiple cyber initiatives underway but needs a clear, joined up programme that leadership can approve and delivery teams can execute.

Why This Role Stands Out

This is not a delivery heavy PM role and it is not a cyber engineering position. It is about bringing structure, clarity and momentum. You will take a fragmented set of cyber activities and turn them into a single, coherent maturity programme with clear ownership, sequencing and outcomes. If you are good at sense making, stakeholder alignment and building plans that actually hold together, this will land well.

Key Responsibilities

Design and document a structured Cyber Security Maturity programme including scope, milestones, dependencies and outcomes
Consolidate existing cyber and IT activities into a single programme framework
Engage cyber, IT and operational stakeholders to translate requirements into deliverable workstreams
Define ownership, governance and a realistic delivery model aligned to business constraints
Build a programme timeline reflecting regulatory, operational and resource considerations
Produce programme artefacts suitable for executive and regulatory scrutiny
Document risks, assumptions and decision points to support leadership decisions
Create a clear handover pack for teams responsible for delivery

Ideal Experience

Proven experience as a Project Manager delivering complex, multi workstream programmes
Exposure to Cyber Security maturity programmes, cyber transformation or security improvement initiatives
Comfortable working with cyber and IT teams without needing to be a technical specialist
Experience operating in regulated or high assurance environments such as utilities, energy or CNI
Strong capability producing executive level programme plans and reporting
Confident stakeholder manager able to translate cyber requirements into structured delivery
PRINCE2 qualification is required

If your strength is bringing order to complex environments and shaping programmes that others can deliver, this is a very clean, well scoped contract assignment.
