Sr Software Engineer II
Remote
12 months Contract
Looking for senior-level engineers who can own complex backend and frontend systems end‑to‑end. This is the highest tier of the Engineer II track, designed for individuals who combine deep technical expertise with strong delivery leadership.
You’ll translate architectural vision into actionable engineering plans, drive governance and standards, partner with Staff Architects, and serve as the primary technical escalation point for other engineers. Role Overview
The Engineer II – Premium is a senior individual contributor responsible for:
Full lifecycle ownership: POC → MVP → GA → post‑GA refinement
Translating roadmap‑level strategy into execution plans for engineering teams
Ensuring quality, resiliency, observability, and operational readiness
Acting as the technical escalation point for Engineer II & III
Driving governance, architecture alignment, and delivery excellence
Core Responsibilities
Backend Architecture & Development
Design and implement backend services in Golang
Build integrations with Platform, CI/CD, and Change Management tooling (GitHub Actions, XLR)
Establish Kubernetes foundations, Docker containerization, and GitHub‑based workflows
Apply phased policy enforcement (audit → warn → enforce → gate)
Frontend Architecture & Development
Lead frontend architecture using React
Develop and maintain OneApp‑based applications (highly preferred)
Ensure frontend/backend contract alignment and performance
Data Modeling & Systems Design
Define data structures, schemas, and system artifacts
Ensure secure, scalable data storage and flow patterns
End‑to‑End Ownership
Own delivery across all lifecycle stages
Ensure functional and non‑functional requirements are met
Quality, Stability & Performance
Define and enforce QA strategies
Implement regression testing integrations
Lead performance/load testing and drive resiliency improvements
Apply evidence‑based testing practices
Observability
Design and integrate O11Y, metrics, logging, and alerting
Ensure systems meet SLOs and operational expectations
Architecture & Governance
Produce and maintain architecture diagrams and ADRs
Ensure alignment with senior stakeholders
Participate in governance forums and influence standards
Leadership & Mentorship
Provide technical direction to Engineer II & III
Improve documentation across customer, user, architectural, and internal domains
Partner with Staff Architects on solution design and delivery
Serve as the primary technical escalation point and unblock delivery
Qualifications
8+ years of professional software engineering experience
Deep expertise in Golang, distributed systems, and cloud‑native architectures
Strong hands‑on experience with Kubernetes, Docker, GitHub, CI/CD pipelines
Proven track record delivering large‑scale systems end‑to‑end
Advanced knowledge of testing, observability, and production operations
Ability to influence senior technical and business stakeholders
Strong written and visual communication skills (diagrams, documentation)
