Senior DevOps and Platform Engineer AWS Kubernetes Terraform
Location: Hybrid, Cambridge 3 days per week OR London
Employment Type: Full time
Salary: £70,000-£100,000 doe
We are partnering with a rapidly scaling technology business to find a talented DevOps and Platform Engineer to join their growing Infrastructure Team. This is a fantastic opportunity for an engineer with a passion for automation, cloud native architecture, and modern platform engineering.
In this role, you will help shape and evolve the company’s AWS platform, modernising deployment patterns, automating environment creation, and ensuring systems remain reliable, resilient, secure, and consistent. If you enjoy solving complex infrastructure challenges and championing best practice across engineering teams, this position offers the scope and autonomy to make a significant impact.
Key Responsibilities
• Design, build and maintain scalable cloud infrastructure using AWS services including EC2, EKS, RDS Aurora, ElastiCache, OpenSearch and CloudFront
• Drive and support the adoption of Kubernetes on EKS to provide consistent, scalable management of production and internal workloads
• Architect and implement Infrastructure as Code pipelines, integrating Terraform and similar tools into CI CD workflows for provisioning, validation and automated testing
• Deliver zero downtime deployment strategies such as blue green, rolling and canary releases with automated rollback and recovery mechanisms
• Lead initiatives to improve platform reliability by removing single points of failure and enhancing autoscaling, high availability and managed service usage
• Collaborate with SRE, Security and Engineering teams to strengthen observability, monitoring and alerting using Prometheus, Grafana and CloudWatch
• Work closely with Security to embed best practice for IAM, secrets management, WAF and cloud posture management
• Optimise performance and cloud spend through automation and improved cost visibility
• Take part in on call rotations, post incident reviews and ongoing improvements to operational reliability
Requirements
• Strong experience designing, automating and maintaining AWS infrastructure including EKS, RDS, EC2, CloudFront, VPC, IAM and Security Hub
• Hands on expertise with Terraform and Infrastructure as Code based CI CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins or AWS CodePipeline
• Deep understanding of Kubernetes operations on AWS including cluster scaling, deployment automation and monitoring
• Solid background in Linux administration, networking and cloud security principles
• Familiarity with observability tools such as Prometheus, Grafana and Loki along with structured alerting practices
• Experience with database migrations, high availability configurations, backups and disaster recovery
• Strong scripting and automation skills using Terraform, Python, Bash or similar languages
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills along with a passion for driving engineering efficiency through automation and consistency
