Overview
We are seeking an experienced DevSecOps to design and implement scalable automation solutions that enhance and streamline the management of the Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE) platform. This role focuses on building secure, reliable automation workflows, integrating APIs, and reducing manual operational effort across complex security environments. The ideal candidate is a proactive, independent problem-solver who can navigate ambiguity and collaborate effectively across technical and business stakeholders.
This position requires on-site presence 3 days per week in either Charlotte, NC or Raleigh, NC.
Key Responsibilities
Design, develop, and implement automation workflows to manage Cisco ISE configuration, policies, and operational tasks.
Build and maintain integrations using RESTful and/or SOAP APIs, including secure authentication (OAuth, JWT), data transformation, and error handling.
Develop Python scripts and Ansible playbooks to support network infrastructure as code initiatives.
Integrate automation with external systems (e.g., secrets management tools such as HashiCorp Vault).
Create custom tooling to simplify administrative processes and reduce manual operational overhead.
Collaborate with internal stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into scalable, maintainable automation solutions.
Document automation architecture, workflows, and usage guidelines to ensure long-term maintainability and effective knowledge transfer.
Troubleshoot, optimize, and enhance automation solutions for performance, reliability, and security compliance.
Consult on complex, large-scale Information Security Engineering initiatives with broad organizational impact.
Core Technical Skills
Required
5+ years of Information Security Engineering experience (or equivalent via consulting, training, military, or education).
Strong Python development experience.
Proven experience building Ansible playbooks based on business and operational requirements.
Hands-on experience managing network infrastructure as code.
API integration experience (REST/SOAP), including authentication mechanisms (OAuth, JWT).
Ability to create clear, structured technical documentation (architecture diagrams, READMEs, usage guides).
Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to optimize automation for performance and reliability.
Preferred
Experience with API testing tools such as Postman or Swagger.
Familiarity with security and performance best practices for API-driven integrations.
Experience integrating automation with third-party or internal enterprise systems.
Nice to Have
Hands-on experience with Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE).
Background in network engineering or network security.
