Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Systems Engineer with strong expertise in VMware, Cisco UCS, and Nexus systems and storage technologies to support and maintain critical infrastructure for our client’s enterprise data center in St. Louis, Missouri. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the design, implementation, and maintenance of virtualized environments and core data center systems, ensuring high availability, performance, and scalability.
Key Responsibilities
Manage and maintain VMware vSphere environments, including ESXi hosts, vCenter, and virtual machines.
Configure, monitor, and support Cisco UCS servers, chassis, and fabric interconnects.
Administer and troubleshoot Cisco Nexus switches and related networking for data center connectivity.
Implement and maintain storage solutions supporting VMware and UCS environments.
Monitor system performance, capacity, and availability; provide proactive tuning and optimization.
Develop and maintain system documentation, diagrams, and standard operating procedures.
Collaborate with network, storage, and application teams to ensure seamless integration of systems.
Support data center operations, including system upgrades, patching, and migrations.
Participate in on-call rotation for after-hours support when required.
Required Qualifications
5+ years of experience as a Systems Engineer or related IT infrastructure role.
Hands-on experience with VMware vSphere, Cisco UCS, and Cisco Nexus environments.
Strong understanding of data center architecture, virtualization, and networking concepts.
Familiarity with SAN/NAS storage systems and related protocols (FC, iSCSI, NFS).
Proven ability to troubleshoot complex system issues across server, storage, and network layers.
Excellent communication, documentation, and organizational skills.
Preferred Qualifications
VMware certifications (VCP, VCAP) or Cisco certifications (CCNP Data Center, CCIE).
Experience with automation or scripting (PowerShell, Python).
Knowledge of backup and disaster recovery solutions.
