About the Role
FREELANCE / Contract - 3-6 months with option to extend.
We're looking for a Senior Data Center Engineer to join on a freelance/contract basis and support mission-critical data center projects across Europe. This role involves working closely with project teams on design, commissioning, and operational readiness, ensuring facilities meet the highest standards of performance, scalability, and reliability.
Key Responsibilities
Install, configure, and maintain servers, storage systems, networking equipment, power distribution, and cooling systems.
Monitor system performance and respond quickly to hardware, software, and network issues to minimize downtime.
Support L1-L5 commissioning activities, including testing, troubleshooting, and validating critical systems.
Manage daily operational tasks, including maintenance schedules, patching, and system upgrades.
Perform capacity planning for space, power, and cooling, ensuring efficient resource utilization.
Maintain detailed documentation of configurations, incidents, and maintenance activities.
Ensure compliance with industry standards, security policies, and uptime requirements.
Collaborate with internal teams, external vendors, and contractors to deliver reliable solutions.
Provide guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and technicians.
Qualifications
Proven experience in a data center or mission-critical engineering environment.
Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and IT infrastructure systems.
Hands-on commissioning experience (L1-L5) preferred.
Excellent troubleshooting, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Familiarity with industry standards (e.g., Uptime Institute, ISO) and security best practices.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and travel as required.
