**Job Title:** Sr Data Center Engineer – Freelance/Contract
**Role Summary:**
Senior engineer responsible for design, commissioning, and ongoing operation of mission‑critical data center facilities across Europe. Works on-site to install, configure, and maintain servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling systems, ensuring maximum uptime and compliance with industry standards.
**Expectations:**
- Deliver projects within 3–6 month contract, with potential extension.
- Work travel‑ready across multiple EU datacenters.
- Maintain 24‑/7 operational excellence through proactive monitoring, rapid issue resolution, and thorough documentation.
- Mentor and lead junior staff and contractors.
**Key Responsibilities:**
- Install, configure, and maintain IT, power, and cooling infrastructure.
- Conduct L1–L5 commissioning: testing, troubleshooting, validating critical systems.
- Monitor performance, diagnose faults, and apply patches/updates.
- Plan capacity for space, power, and cooling to meet scalability goals.
- Produce detailed documentation of configurations, incidents, and maintenance schedules.
- Enforce compliance with Uptime Institute, ISO, and security policies.
- Coordinate with internal teams, vendors, and contractors to deliver solutions.
- Provide mentorship to junior engineers and technicians.
**Required Skills:**
- Deep knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and IT data‑center infrastructure.
- Hands‑on experience with L1–L5 commissioning and fault diagnosis.
- Strong troubleshooting, problem‑solving, and communication abilities.
- Familiarity with Uptime Institute, ISO, and security best practices.
- Ability to thrive in fast‑paced, on‑site environments and travel widely.
**Required Education & Certifications:**
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering, IT, or related field.
- Certifications such as Uptime Institute Accredited Professional, ISO 27001 Lead Implementer, or equivalent preferred.
