Interim Chief Technology Officer - Live Services

Initial 6 month contract, Rate c. PS1000pd inside IR35, Hybrid - Scotland 2 days per week

Overview:

We are seeking an Interim CTO to support the uplift of our client's live service operations in preparation for a new Target Operating Model launching in April. This is a hands-on strategic role, responsible for running live services, ITIL-aligned practices, business continuity, and technology governance at scale, with a clear focus on enabling sustainable, high-performance digital operations.

Key Responsibilities

Lead strategic improvements across live service operations, ITIL practices, and digital service delivery.
Define and enhance business continuity, disaster recovery, and resilience strategies.
Coach senior leaders to take ownership of enterprise service management and operations.
Identify and address gaps in skills, processes, and leadership capability.
Improve governance, performance, and incident response across high-availability services.
Advise on the design and implementation of a future-ready service operating model.
Align service transformation with broader technology and organisational goals.

Note: This is an advisory position with no direct line management or budget responsibilities.

Requirements

Proven track record in CTO, Deputy CTO, or senior technology leadership roles.
Deep expertise in enterprise service management, ITIL, and operational resilience.
Strong experience leading transformation in complex or regulated environments (e.g. public sector, finance).
Skilled at engaging senior stakeholders and driving accountability at leadership level.
Broad understanding of modern service operations (e.g. SRE, cloud, DevSecOps).
Excellent communication, advisory, and change leadership skills.
