Job Description
Job Title: Employee Relations Specialist Role Summary: Provide expert frontline employee relations support, advising line managers and staff on HR policies, performance management, attendance, and UK employment law while ensuring compliance with data protection and right-to-work regulations. Expactations: Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of HR legislation and best practice, act as a trusted advisor, and deliver clear, actionable guidance that aligns with corporate policies and legal requirements. Key Responsibilities: - Advise on disciplinary, grievance, whistleblowing, and appeal processes including ACAS early conciliation and tribunal case preparation. - Interpret and apply people policies on maternity, adoption, sick leave, compassionate leave, equality, and diversity. - Manage attendance cases (unauthorised absence, SOSR, AWOL, short‑term and long‑term absence) with sound judgement. - Conduct right‑to‑work checks, visa renewals, and sponsorship support, and train managers on validation procedures. - Handle data‑protection requests (SARS, right to be forgotten, personal data correction) and respond to breaches. - Provide guidance on employment legislation covering working time, fixed‑term contracts,(probation), redundancy, flexible working, and child/young workers. Required Skills: - Strong knowledge of UK employment law, ACAS guidelines, and data protection regulations. - Excellent listening, communication, and interpersonal skills. - Proficient in HR administrative duties, letter writing, and IT tools. - Ability to build relationships and influence colleagues at all levels. Required Education & Certifications: - Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, Law or related discipline. - CIPD qualification preferred.
