Job Description
**Job Title:** Head of Operational Risk **Role Summary:** Lead the organization’s operational risk management function, serving as a second‑line defensive leader. Own the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of risk frameworks, policies, and controls, ensuring full alignment with Basel 3.1 requirements and industry best practice. Deliver executive‑level insights and dashboards to senior management and risk committees. **Expectations:** • Head a high‑performing operational risk team and mentor staff in second‑line practices. • Own the operational risk life cycle from incident reporting through to remediation and reporting. • Ensure the enterprise risk register, model risk governance, and control inventory are accurate, current, and auditable. • Advocate risk culture and embed risk‑aware decision making across the firm. **Key Responsibilities:** - Oversee incident reporting, risk & control self‑assessment (RCSA), new product risk reviews, control assurance, key risk indicator (KRI) monitoring, and issues management. - Strengthen and innovate model risk governance and the control inventory framework. - Maintain the enterprise risk register and loss data capture system. - Drive Pillar 1 and Pillar 2 capital assessment to meet Basel 3.1 standards. - Produce actionable risk committee reports and operational risk dashboards. - Collaborate with senior leadership to identify emerging risks and validate business continuity plans. - Lead risk transformation and change initiatives across the organization. **Required Skills:** - 5+ years of operational risk management experience, primarily second‑line. - Deep understanding of Basel 3.1 operational risk requirements. - Proven track record of leading risk transformation or process‑improvement initiatives. - Strong analytical capabilities and data‑driven decision making. - Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, and leadership skills. - Knowledge of IT or cyber risk management is a plus. **Required Education & Certifications:** - Bachelor’s degree in finance, risk, accounting, business, or related discipline. - Professional risk certification preferred (e.g., FRM, GARP, RIMS‑R or equivalent).
