Job Description
**Job Title:** DTI Data Intern **Role Summary:** Support the Florida Division of Emergency Management data operations by building reports and dashboards, performing data entry, cleansing, validation, and assisting with system configuration, documentation, and access controls. Provide data and system support during Emergency Operations Center activations and gain experience in public‑sector data analytics and information systems. **Expectations:** - Maintain high data quality and security standards. - Deliver timely support for data‑related requests and troubleshooting. - Adapt to variable schedules, including possible evenings/weekends. - Communicate effectively with analysts, developers, and program teams. - Uphold confidentiality and professional conduct. **Key Responsibilities:** - Develop and maintain reports and dashboards (e.g., Power BI, Tableau). - Perform data entry, cleansing, validation, and basic field updates. - Clean up data access permissions, documentation, and data structures. - Troubleshoot simple data workflows, reporting errors, and automation issues; triage support tickets. - Assist with data pipeline tasks and system configuration for existing initiatives. - Support data and system needs during EOC activations. - Participate in shadowing and cross‑division projects; contribute to process‑improvement activities as assigned. **Required Skills:** - Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities. - Excellent written and verbal communication. - High attention to detail and organizational skills. - Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines. - Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365, especially Excel (formulas, pivots, formatting). - Basic knowledge of reporting/dashboard tools, data validation, permission cleanup, and troubleshooting automation. - Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information. **Required Education & Certifications:** - Currently enrolled in or recently graduated (≤1 year) from an accredited bachelor’s program in Data Science, Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, Software Engineering, or a related field. - Minimum 6–24 months customer‑service experience. - Preferred: GPA ≥ 3.0; 1+ year experience with data, reporting tools, or enterprise systems; exposure to Power BI, Tableau, SQL‑based reporting, or similar platforms; coursework or certifications in data analytics, business intelligence, or information systems.
