**Job title**
Student Success Tutor
**Role Summary**
Provide one‑to‑one academic and personal support to students to enhance retention, satisfaction, and academic progression. Liaise with lecturers, support teams, and the registry to deliver timely interventions, resolve barriers, and promote a supportive learning environment.
**Expectations**
- Maintain high student retention and satisfaction rates.
- Deliver proactive, problem‑solving support that empowers students to take responsibility for their learning.
- Contribute to a preventive, student‑centred culture across all programmes.
**Key Responsibilities**
- Advise a scheduled cohort of students, clarifying academic requirements, submission deadlines, and mitigating circumstances.
- Schedule and conduct individual sessions to address queries, study‑skill gaps, and resource needs.
- Monitor attendance and progress, identify risks, and coordinate with student services for early intervention.
- Refer non‑compliant students to the retention team and handle academic misconduct in partnership with the exam department.
- Develop and use teaching aids for lectures, tutorials, seminars, and online classes.
- Maintain accurate records of tutoring activities, assessment outcomes, and student interactions.
- Participate in enrolment, induction, and continuity programmes to build early student engagement.
- Collaborate with the registry and support teams to create a multidisciplinary support network.
- Report IT and academic issues that could affect learning, proposing preventive solutions.
**Required Skills**
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills for student engagement and cross‑departmental collaboration.
- Knowledge of academic policies, assessment procedures, and mitigating‑circumstance regulations.
- Ability to analyse learner challenges, recommend remediation, and refer appropriately.
- Proficiency with student information systems, database entry, and basic IT troubleshooting.
- Excellent organisational and time‑management skills for scheduling, follow‑up, and reporting.
- Empathy, cultural sensitivity, and the capacity to foster inclusive learning communities.
**Required Education & Certifications**
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Higher Education, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience).
- Prior experience in student support, tutoring, or academic advising is preferred.
