Job Description
Job Title: Data Privacy & Cybersecurity Attorney Role Summary: Provide legal guidance on U.S. and international data privacy and cybersecurity laws; develop compliance strategies; negotiate privacy agreements; manage regulatory investigations; advise on privacy policy and procedure implementation. Expectations: - Minimum 2 years of data privacy law practice. - Proven expertise in GDPR, CCPA, HIPAA, GLBA, FERPA, FCRA/FACTA, COPPA and applicable state statutes. - Ability to lead large projects and manage client relationships. - State bar admission in the client’s residence state. - Technical fluency and strong written/verbal communication. Key Responsibilities: - Advise on compliance with existing and emerging privacy frameworks. - Draft and negotiate data protection agreements, terms of service, and privacy policies. - Conduct privacy impact assessments and recommend risk mitigation. - Handle regulatory investigations and represent clients in privacy‑related proceedings. - Collaborate with internal teams to implement privacy programs. - Monitor and interpret evolving global privacy and cybersecurity trends. Required Skills: - In‑depth knowledge of privacy and information security statutes (GDPR, CCPA, HIPAA, GLBA, FERPA, FCRA/FACTA, COPPA). - Legal research, drafting, and negotiation proficiency. - Project management and leadership capabilities. - Clear, concise written and oral communication. - Technical understanding of cyber security matters. - Client engagement and relationship‑building. Required Education & Certifications: - Juris Doctor (JD) or equivalent law degree. - Admission to the state bar where the client resides. - Preferred certifications: CIPP/US, CIPP/E, CIPM, or equivalent privacy credentials.
