We invite applications for one Research Fellow (Post Doc) positions at Warwick Business School.

Successful candidates will join the FutureFinance.AI Research Group at the Gillmore Centre for Financial Technology. The Research Group draws interdisciplinary scholars and thinkers from across the world to redefine and innovate the financial and property technology landscape. The focus of the research group is on the use of AI, machine learning, and data science in the emerging fintech and proptech sectors.

About You

We invite applicants with research interests at the intersection of AI and Finance, and an ability to publish in top tier business and interdisciplinary journals. Applicants should hold (or be about to complete) a PhD in Business, Finance, Computer Science, Financial Engineering, FinTech, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Economics, or a related discipline.

Strong quantitative and programming skills, fluency in English, and excellent communication and presentation skills are essential. Candidates with expertise in reinforcement learning and/or generative AI are particularly welcome to apply.

PhD Status

If you are near submission of your PhD, or have not yet had it conferred, any offers of employment will be made at Research Assistant level, at the highest spinal point of pay grade 5 (£34,610 per annum).

Upon receipt of evidence confirming the successful award of your PhD, you will be promoted to Research Fellow, at the lowest spinal point of grade 6 (£35,608 per annum).

About The Department

The primary mission of the Gilmore Centre is to conduct world-class, cutting-edge research at the intersection of finance and technology. The Centre engages in research exploring the transformative impact of emerging technologies like AI, ML, blockchain, mobile payments, cryptocurrencies and crowdfunding platforms on financial activities.

The Broad Research Directions Of Interest Are The Following

Societal Impacts and Policy: crypto-currencies, cyber security, financial and privacy regulation, inequality and underserved markets.

Firm and Industry Analysis: blockchain and financial intermediation, smart contracts, nature and source of competition in the financial sector, emerging industry structure, impact of social media on financial markets.

Consumer Analysis: Innovative technology-infused products and services, financial literacy and empowering consumers.

Technology Management: financial principles and instruments to manage data and technology resources such as bandwidth and cloud computing.
