Job Title: Onsite Support Engineer (1st/2nd Line)
Location: Birmingham (Head Office)
Salary: £25,000 – £30,000 DOE
About the Role:
We’re seeking a hands-on Onsite Support Engineer to join our Birmingham head office, reporting to the IT Manager. You’ll support and troubleshoot a wide range of software and hardware across multiple UK sites, working with end users and 3rd party providers to resolve issues from start to finish. This role offers exposure to all areas of IT, including desktops, servers, networking, VOIP/telephony, cloud services, and more.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide first-line support to 350+ staff, in-person, remotely, or over the phone
Log, track, and resolve IT incidents according to team procedures
Escalate complex issues as required
Maintain IT documentation, procedures, and risk/compliance registers
Support IT projects and change approval processes
Identify recurring issues and recommend improvements
Maintain and develop IT knowledge and skills
Meet SLA and KPI targets consistently
Skills & Experience Required:
2+ years’ experience in a service desk or IT support role
Working knowledge of Windows OS (including Server 2022)
Experience with Microsoft technologies: 365 Admin Centre, Intune, MDM, SCCM, O365, 365 Defender
Networking, switching, structured cabling, and troubleshooting experience
Familiarity with virtualization (Hyper-V, VMware) and backup/disaster recovery
Awareness of IT security and vulnerability principles
Competent with IT applications such as SQL, ERP, EPOS, XDR, AD, GPO, Citrix
Excellent problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills
Candidate Profile:
Full UK driving license
Flexible approach, willing to work outside core hours if required
Positive, proactive, and keen to develop professionally
