Job Specifications
Picarro is looking for a **UK-based Field Operations Technician** to join our Energy Team and serve as the local technical expert for our customers in the region.
This role is primarily technical, requiring a hands-on approach, strong problem-solving skills, and a customer-oriented mindset. The successful candidate will provide installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance services, while also supporting field demonstrations, trials, and post-sales activities with major utility companies in the UK.
Roles and Responsibilities
The Field Operations Technicians will be the **primary local technical contact** for UK customers, delivering high-quality support both on-site and remotely.
Key Responsibilities
Independently install, configure, and commission Picarro systems at UK customer sites.
Provide hands-on technical support, diagnosing, troubleshooting, and resolving hardware and software issues (both remotely and on-site).
Manage spare parts inventory and coordinate logistics for replacements and repairs.
Support customer projects, including field demonstrations and trials.
Log issues, track resolutions, and produce clear technical documentation.
Prepare technical deliverables, including reports and dashboards, for both customers and internal teams.
Ensure quality standards, processes, and procedures are maintained.
Establish and maintain strong, long-term relationships with key UK accounts.
Provide training and documentation for Level 1 and Level 2 support teams.
Manage periodic maintenance of systems.
Participate in 24/7 on-call rotations for critical support when required.
Desired Skills and Experience
Strong technical background with hands-on field experience in multidisciplinary systems (electrical, electronic, mechanical, computerized, or optical) with at least 3-5 years of relevant experience.
Experience in a customer-facing technical support role.
Knowledge of systems control and technical product specifications.
Analytical problem-solver
Excellent organizational skills with the ability to work independently and deliver on time.
Strong communication skills, able to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
Experience in project management is an asset.
Willingness to travel frequently across the UK (and occasionally abroad).
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree or technical diploma (mechanical, electrical, or electronic) or equivalent experience in lieu of a relevant degree/diploma.
Strong technical background with hands-on field experience in multidisciplinary systems (electrical, electronic, mechanical, computerized, or optical) with at least 3-5 years of relevant experience.
Valid driving license.
Vocational training in instrumentation preferred.
English: full proficiency required. Additional languages are an asset.
