Overview of role:
WestJet is seeking for a Senior DevOps Engineer (Azure) reporting into our Digital Technology office within the Accounts & Rewards area. This individual can exhibit a high standard of excellence, enjoys challenges, and is results-driven. The incumbent must be highly motivated and demonstrate the ability to work in an agile environment.
As a Senior DevOps Engineer, you will be designing, implementing, deploying, and supporting infrastructure as code to deliver APIs and frontend software applications to our guests. This position requires an energetic and motivated individual with a strong work ethic and willingness to learn and contribute to a fast-paced environment. Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate with others are essential. Moreover, you will be able to participate in the following areas:Apply industry-standard processes, practices, and techniquesLead the DevOps team and business stakeholders to develop and support appropriate software solutions that meet WestJet’s business, technical and quality requirementsCoach and mentor to other DevOps team members.
Key deliverables include:
Actively and consistently support all efforts to simplify and enhance systems that support the digital functions of the company Implement and design CI/CD pipelines to automate the delivery of our APIs and Frontend applications
Prepare and maintain IaC scripts for our infrastructure and monitoring platforms
Automate and document troubleshooting of production applications
Ensure that all APIs are fully tested in an automated framework, including functional and performance tests
Actively participate and provide technical expertise for the creation, implementation, and ongoing evolution of WestJet’s design and development methodologies, coding standards, and style guidelines Participate in a pre/post-hours on-call rotation to maintain a 24x7 environment
Experience and qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required
Minimum 6 years of DevOps experience (Azure preferred)
Designing and maintaining k8s environments (AKS preferred)
Building and deploying Docker containers
Linux administration
Continuous integration, testing, and deployment (Azure DevOps)
Implementing advanced monitoring for platforms and applications (Splunk cloud, Splunk Observability, etc.)
Infrastructure as code (e.g. Terraform)
CDN systems (Akamai)Javascript(Node.js) and Java programming experience
Event Broker administration (Kafka, Azure Event Hub)Redis caching configuration (e.g. Azure Redis)
