The Company Security & Trade Compliance Officer is responsible for ensuring compliance with Canadian government security requirements under the Contract Security Program (CSP) and safeguarding information, personnel, and facilities. This role supports government contracting compliance by managing security clearances, facility registrations, and sensitive document handling in accordance with Public Services and Procurement Canada (PSPC) and other regulatory standards.
This role also ensures compliance with Canadian, US, and international customs laws for imports/exports, Canadian Controlled Goods and ITAR regulations including technical data, hardware, software, and defense services. Additionally, oversee company security operations, including personnel clearances, facility security, and sensitive document management.

Job Description
This position combines Company Security Officer and Trade Compliance responsibilities, requiring collaboration with internal teams, external agencies, and adherence to regulatory and security standards. Oversee all security-related activities for government contracts, including personnel screening, facility safeguarding, and adherence to security clauses in contracts.
Key Responsibilities
Process new hire security clearances (online portal and manual).
Manage renewals, upgrades, and terminations for employee clearances.
Conduct pre-clearance risk assessments.
Deliver security briefings at hire, upgrade, and termination stages.
Maintain employee security files and clearance tracker.
Issue and manage security badges and access levels.
Administer security software and generate compliance reports.
Develop and enforce security policies.
Manage zone access, visitor badges/logs,
Oversee visitor access management and photo screening.
Monitor facility video cameras.
Coordinate with NS Commissionaires for after-hours security, front desk operations, and facility escorts.
Conduct annual security training for employees.
Manage restricted keyway locks and electronic access zone security.
Handle sensitive document transfers (Canada and International).
Process Requests for Visit (RFV) for access onsite and off-site.
Manage controlled storage locations for Project and Bid documentation and data
Oversee contract security clauses and registrations.
Maintain CSP facility and document safeguarding registrations, renewals, and updates.
Draft, submit, and manage licenses, permits, and agreements (Canada Export Permits, CGP, US ITAR DSP/TAA, EAR).
Manage Global Affairs Canada license recordkeeping and proficiency with EXCOL system.
Review import/export documentation and liaise with logistics, freight forwarders, and authorities.
Research and classify commodities under Canadian and US regulations (ECL, CCL, USML, harmonized tariff codes).
Support compliance and risk management (ethics, anti-bribery, sanctions, forced labor).
Provide regulatory interpretation and guidance (Export Control Classification, Licensing, Training, Documentation, Recordkeeping).
Ensure import shipments comply with customs laws; advise on tariffs, insurance, Incoterms.
Requirements
