Location: Fontana, CA Warehouse
Travel Required: Local travel throughout Los Angeles, Inland Empire, Orange County, and San Diego areas
Position Summary
The Warehouse Technician is responsible for managing material logistics, inventory control, and field delivery operations supporting telecommunications and fiber network projects. This role reports to the Fontana, CA warehouse and plays a critical role in ensuring timely material availability for network deployment, maintenance, and decommissioning activities across Southern California.
The ideal candidate has hands-on experience in telecommunications or fiber-optic inventory environments, strong attention to detail, and is comfortable driving to multiple warehouse and field locations.
Key Responsibilities
Inventory & Materials Management
Receive inventory and non-inventory materials using the company’s Financial/Accounting software (Oracle).
Physically receive, inspect, label, and properly store incoming materials.
Create, maintain, and manage inventory item IDs and BIN locations within the system.
Stage, reserve, allocate, and issue materials to projects manually or through automated system requests.
Process returned, decommissioned, and RMA materials from network and field operations.
Maintain accurate inventory records and ensure real-time system updates.
Inventory Control & Auditing
Perform periodic cycle counts and full physical inventory (PI) counts.
Investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies.
Maintain an organized and scalable BIN designation and storage system.
Ensure compliance with internal inventory control procedures.
Shipping & Receiving
Process outbound shipments, including standard and freight, using vendor online portals (UPS, FedEx, etc.).
Maintain detailed shipping logs and transaction records.
Coordinate inbound and outbound logistics to support project timelines.
Resolve receipt-versus-invoice discrepancies in coordination with Accounts Payable.
Delivery & Field Support
Deliver materials to regional warehouses, construction sites, and field locations.
Ensure safe handling, loading, and unloading of materials.
Maintain accurate delivery documentation and proof of delivery records.
Support urgent and scheduled material requests across the Southern California footprint.
Systems & Administrative Support
Enter and maintain accurate data in Oracle and related inventory systems.
Utilize MS Office tools for reporting, tracking, and documentation.
Work with vendor portals for order tracking and shipment confirmations.
Communicate effectively with warehouse staff, project teams, procurement, and finance.
Physical Requirements
Continual lifting, carrying, and handling of materials typically weighing 25–35 lbs, with occasional loads up to 70 lbs.
Ability to stand, walk, bend, and operate in a warehouse environment for extended periods.
Required Qualifications
Education & Experience
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Minimum 5 years of warehouse, inventory, or materials management experience.
Prior experience in a telecommunications, ISP, or fiber-optic environment strongly preferred.
Experience working with inventory systems and purchasing environments.
Skills & Knowledge
Strong inventory control and material tracking skills.
Proficiency in Oracle or similar Financial/Accounting software.
Solid MS Office and data entry capabilities.
Experience with vendor shipping portals (UPS, FedEx, freight carriers).
Understanding of shipping, receiving, and logistics workflows.
Licensing & Travel
Valid driver’s license with an excellent driving record.
Ability to travel locally throughout LA, IE, OC, and SD regions.
OSHA Fork Truck certification and experience helpful but not required.
