About The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Perception Engineer specializing in defense autonomy to join our team. In this role, you will be instrumental in developing, integrating, and maintaining real-time sensor software solutions deployed across a diverse range of autonomous vehicles operating in land, air, sea, and space domains. Your primary responsibilities will involve designing and rapidly integrating AI/ML sensor algorithms that interface seamlessly across various hardware platforms, ingest relevant mission data, and support the autonomy team's objectives. You will work closely with multidisciplinary teams to enhance sensor fusion capabilities, develop autonomous sensor controllers for multiple sensor modalities such as EO, IR, radar, acoustics, and RF, and ensure the reliable operation of heterogenous platform swarms during on-site DoD testing and demonstration events. Your work will also include deploying containerized autonomy solutions on embedded Linux devices, performing performance profiling, and interacting directly with DoD customers to understand their operational needs. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge defense projects, improve sensor integration processes, and advance autonomous capabilities in complex operational environments.

Qualifications

MS or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Robotics Engineering, Computer Science, Optimization, or a related field, or 5+ years of relevant experience in sensor algorithms, hardware integration, and hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) software development.
Experience with multiple sensor modalities including EO, IR, lidar, radar, sonar, acoustics, and RF.
Strong understanding of sensor physics and control parameters.
Proficiency in training and deploying machine learning algorithms using Python, PyTorch, TensorFlow, and deploying models with ONNX and C++.
Familiarity with tracking algorithms such as Kalman filters and principles of optimal sensor fusion.
Experience working with Windows, Linux, and Docker environments.
Prior experience in remote software development, handling large datasets, and adapting to new software tools and algorithms with minimal supervision.
Willingness to travel as required for project integration, testing, and demonstrations, typically every 1-2 months for 2-5 days.
Must be a U.S. citizen and eligible for a U.S. security clearance.

Responsibilities

Develop, integrate, and adapt advanced AI/ML sensor algorithms to enhance perception capabilities across diverse autonomous platforms.
Create interfacing software to autonomously control sensors such as EO, IR, acoustics, radar, and RF, ensuring seamless data collection and sensor operation.
Collaborate with sensor, tracking, and autonomy teams to deploy heterogenous platform swarms during DoD testing and demonstrations.
Deploy containerized autonomy solutions on embedded Linux devices, conducting computer-in-the-loop testing and performance profiling.
Engage with DoD customers to understand operational use cases, gather requirements, and provide technical support during field events.
Participate in troubleshooting technical issues, scoping new features, and documenting ongoing work to ensure clarity and project continuity.
Drive simulation and post-processing efforts to analyze sensor and platform performance, informing future integration strategies.
Implement continuous improvement plans based on simulation results, customer feedback, and operational data.

Benefits

Competitive base salary with additional compensation through equity options and restricted stock units.
Comprehensive health, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance coverage.
401(k) retirement plan with employer matching contributions.
Learning stipends and wellness allowances to support professional development and well-being.
Paid time off and flexible work arrangements, with a focus on in-office presence and occasional remote work.
Opportunities to work on impactful defense and autonomous systems projects in a collaborative
