Summary of the role:

EXL is seeking an experienced Solutions Developer – Independent SAS Consultant to join our Banking & Financial Services Data & Strategic Analytics team on a Fixed Term Contract basis.

This role requires a hands-on SAS specialist with strong experience across data management, analytics, forecasting and reporting, capable of delivering end-to-end solutions for complex business problems within the financial services domain.

You will work closely with business and technical stakeholders to design, develop and deliver robust, scalable and well-governed analytics solutions.

As part of your duties, you will be responsible for:

Designing, developing and delivering analytics, forecasting, reporting and data management solutions for Banking & Financial Services use cases.
Building and maintaining solutions across SAS Grid / SAS Platform 9 environments, including Hadoop-based ecosystems.
Developing, maintaining and optimising end-to-end ETL processes, data pipelines, models and analytical frameworks.
Producing high-quality reports and reusable reporting solutions aligned to business requirements.
Supporting strategic analysis and insight generation to enable informed decision-making.
Acting as a solutions developer, shaping and delivering pragmatic solutions where requirements fall outside standard platform scope.
Working with SQL-based data sources and collaborating with data engineering teams, including exposure to Databricks and Python where required.
Providing project delivery support, including planning, documentation, stakeholder engagement and delivery tracking.
Contributing to the ongoing optimisation and enhancement of analytics and BI environments.

Qualifications and experience we consider to be essential for the role:

Proven experience delivering SAS-based solutions within enterprise environments, ideally in Banking or Financial Services.
Strong hands-on experience with SAS Grid / SAS Platform 9 (SAS P9).
Strong SQL skills with experience working on large and complex datasets.
Demonstrated experience in analytics, forecasting, reporting and data management.
Experience in data modelling and the design of reusable analytical and reporting frameworks.
Ability to translate business requirements into effective technical solutions.
Experience supporting structured project delivery, including project or workstream management activities.

Skills and Personal attributes we would like to have:

Exposure to SAS Viya (desirable).
Experience with Databricks and/or Python (desirable).
Data engineering awareness and experience working alongside platform teams.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work independently and deliver high-quality outputs in complex environments.
Strong communication skills, including the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
Relevant certifications such as SAS Base/Advanced Programming and/or PRINCE2 Foundation or Practitioner (desirable).
