About This Role
The ERP Business Analyst will play a key role in improving and supporting the company’s business processes through the ERP system. This position focuses primarily on understanding business needs and optimizing how they interact with the ERP: gathering requirements, configuring modules, documenting workflows, and providing end-user support and training. The ideal candidate will be business-oriented, proactive in process improvement, and able to translate functional requirements into effective system solutions. Technical knowledge may be useful for data analysis and customization (SQL,VB), but the emphasis is on functional expertise and collaboration with business teams.
Key Responsibilities And Accountabilities
User Support & Issue Resolution
Serve as a primary point of contact for end-user support. Troubleshoot and resolve functional ERP issues, escalate technical matters when needed, and ensure a high level of customer satisfaction
Business Process Analysis & Improvement
Analyze existing business processes and workflows across departments (e.g., finance, inventory, manufacturing) to identify gaps and improvement opportunities. Collaborate with business users to document and optimize processes aligned with ERP capabilities.
ERP Configuration & Module Management
Configure and maintain ERP modules according to business requirements and best practices. Ensure changes are properly tested, documented, and communicated to users.
Requirements Gathering & Documentation
Work with business users to gather requirements for system enhancements, new modules, or integrations. Translate business needs into functional specifications and ensure clear documentation for both users and technical teams.
Data Analysis & Reporting
Extract, manipulate, and analyze ERP data using SQL and VB. Develop and maintain ad-hoc queries to support business decision-making and operational transparency.
Testing & Quality Assurance
Create and execute test plans for upgrades, patches, and system changes. Support users during UAT (User Acceptance Testing) and ensure high-quality deployments with minimal disruption.
Collaboration with Technical Teams
Work closely with IT and external vendors on complex technical issues, integrations, and custom development. Assist in translating functional needs into technical tasks and validating delivered solutions.
Essential Qualifications, Experience, And Skills
Education and Certifications:
Bachelor’s degree in information systems or another relevant field.
ERP-related certifications are an asset.
Additional certifications in Business Analysis are preferred but not required.
Expertise in a specific business domain is valuable, combined with a strong interest in IT and digital solutions.
Experience
3 plus years of experience in an ERP Analyst role with both functional and technical responsibilities.
Hands-on experience configuring and supporting ERP modules in areas such as Finance, Supply Chain, Inventory, Manufacturing, or Sales.
Experience in a manufacturing, distribution, or similar industrial environment is preferred.
Proven track record of gathering business requirements and delivering system enhancements.
Strong knowledge of ERP systems and their role in supporting business processes.
Ability to configure ERP workflows, menus, fields, and validations.
Solid understanding of business processes across finance, supply chain, and manufacturing.
Detail-oriented and committed to process integrity and quality.
Customer service-oriented with a proactive mindset.
Flexible and adaptable, able to transition between tasks and departments easily.
Experience in Syspro or LN Infor is a plus.
Technical skills (e.g., SQL for data extraction, basic scripting for customizations) are an advantage but not the primary focus.
Strong ability to communicate with business users, technical teams, and external vendors.
Experience managing small projects or change requests within a structured framework.
Ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
Skilled in developing business cases and documenting process flows.
Compensation range: $90,000 – $95,000 CAD
