You have graduated or will graduate with a recognized post-secondary degree or diploma, post-graduate certificate or diploma between January 2025 and June 2026.

Job Summary

The position will include day-to-day support to the Plant Capital & Engineering team in the delivery of the capital program for the Water and Wastewater Treatment Division. Interns will have the opportunity to lead smaller projects and assignments as well as directly support our Project Management team on larger capital projects and or assignments. Capital projects are typically multi-disciplinary projects that can include facility removals, upgrades or additions.

Duties & Responsibilities

Provide day-to-day support to Project Managers, Senior Project Advisors and Management in the delivery of treatment capital program within the Plant Capital & Engineering group.
Assist with planning, design and inspection of capital projects through the business units within Public Works.
Assist or lead in the delivery of minor capital projects across the water and wastewater treatment facilities. Participate in day-to-day business activities that will transfer knowledge regarding the delivery of water and wastewater treatment projects which may include plant civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation and SCADA system upgrades.
Participate in corporate training associated with corporate business and governance processes.
Assist in the preparation of studies and reports including the analysis of project and program delivery metrics.
Assist with the execution of project/program driven communication with the public, elected officials and Senior management.
Liaising with Regional staff including Plant Operations, Plant Maintenance, SCADA and/or Procurement to support capital project delivery.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Essential

Skills & Qualifications

Undergraduate degree in Civil, Chemical, Mechanical or related field from a university accredited by Canadian Engineering Accreditation Board.
Demonstrate an interest in pursuing a career in the delivery of engineering services and capital water and wastewater treatment projects in a municipal environment.
Capable of planning and implementing work in an organized manner and working collaboratively with others.
Possess superior time management skills and able to manage workflow in order to complete work on time and as expected.

Preferred

Experience in Water and Wastewater Treatment projects or the application of green energy projects.
Familiarity with project management principles as well as reviewing and understanding engineering design drawings.
Demonstrate excellent communication skills.
Self-motivated, capable of working in a team environment and independently.

Travel will be required to different facilities and/ or construction projects; incumbent must provide their own transportation.
