Position
Business Analyst – Artificial Intelligence & Automation

Montreal (Hybrid – 3 days onsite)

Contract – 6 Months (Renewable)

Rate: $70/hour

We are seeking a senior AI & Automation Business Analyst / Solution Framing Lead to drive early-stage qualification, discovery, and governance of AI and automation initiatives within a manufacturing enterprise environment.

This is a high-impact role responsible for converting early ideas into structured, measurable, delivery-ready initiatives that can move confidently into production.

What You Will Do

1. AI & Automation Discovery Leadership

Lead stakeholder workshops and front-door intake discussions

Clarify objectives, workflows, constraints, and measurable outcomes

Prepare executive-ready discovery documentation

2. AI “Challenge” Function

Assess whether AI is truly required

Classify appropriate solution type (automation, analytics, GenAI)

Reset unrealistic expectations and define success criteria

3. Problem Framing & Decision Architecture

Define decision points and workflows (including human-in-the-loop)

Structure data inputs/outputs and exception handling

Develop KPI frameworks and value hypotheses

4. Vendor & Solution Governance

Challenge vendor proposals

Ensure alignment with security, RBAC, auditability, and architecture standards

Prevent scope creep and enforce production readiness

5. Repeatable Framework Creation

Standardize intake, feasibility screening, and MVP roadmaps

Produce concise executive-level deliverables

Requirements

Required Qualifications

8+ years in business analysis, product analysis, solution consulting, or digital transformation

4+ years hands-on involvement in AI initiatives

Demonstrated experience deploying AI projects into production

Strong knowledge of Microsoft Azure ecosystem (Azure, Synapse, Fabric)

Experience in manufacturing environments

Proven ability to define measurable business outcomes for AI projects

Experience governing external AI vendors

Strong stakeholder leadership and communication skills

Bilingual (English mandatory, French functional)

Preferred

Industrial operations experience (quality, maintenance, reliability)

Automation of finance, AP, procurement, HR workflows

Data governance, RBAC, audit logging

Agile portfolio intake models

Human-in-the-loop workflow design
