What does this role do?
You will work across the entire technology stack, with a focus on data delivery, from user interfaces to backend services and databases. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality software solutions. You will play a crucial role in contributing to data delivery pipelines ensuring that our customers always have the best, up to date, and high-quality data for informed decision making. You will deliver value by designing data engineering workflows within AWS, using Terraform, NodeJS and Python to ensure timely delivery of data from our data lake to production systems, whilst ensuring the scalability, performance and security of our applications.
What will you be responsible for?
Design, develop and maintain scalable data delivery pipelines to feed our customer-facing databases.
Develop serverless infrastructure to power our APIs and Apps.
Build and maintain robust server-side applications and well-structured APIs using NodeJS and Typescript.
Design, implement and manage production databases and data-stores, moving seamlessly between relational, NoSQL databases, and object stores as appropriate for the application.
Design and implement Elasticsearch document databases, supporting full text search and GenAI training data.
Integrate third party services and external APIs to extend platform capabilities.
Write clean, maintainable and well-documented code following best practices and coding standards.
Develop and maintain automated test suites, including unit, integration and end-to-end tests.
Participate in code reviews and contribute to architectural and technical decision-making.
Optimize applications for performance, scalability, reliability and security.
Manage application deployment and maintenance using CI/CD pipelines and AWS cloud infrastructure, using Terraform and GitHub
What do you need?
Experience of working within a scale up environment using serverless infrastructure.
Knowledge of designing and developing scalable data stores, processes and APIs.
Experience working with Elastic Search to develop document databases and full text search applications.
Strong proficiency in Infrastructure As Code (IAC) frameworks, such as Terraform.
Experienced developing backend services using technologies such as Node.js and Python.
Working knowledge of relational and NoSQL databases.
Proficiency with Git and collaborative development workflows.
Solid understanding of RESTful APIs and web services architecture.
Strong awareness of best practices related to performance optimization, application security, and scalability.
