GE Aerospace’s Bristol Robotic Services (BRS) team is seeking a Software Engineer to develop and support high reliability software solutions that power AI-driven aerospace applications. GE Aerospace, Bristol Robotic Services (BRS) is a small tightknit office located in Bristol, Southwest England. We are a team of ~40 talented, dedicated and hardworking employees who collaborate to solve very interesting challenges in the aerospace industry. Our offices are in Bristol in the Southwest of England – an area fast becoming a major centre for robotics. You get the chance to work with highly skilled engineers working on cutting-edge technology in a fast-moving work environment.

High Level Skills

Ability to write robust and maintainable software using Python
Ability to develop and maintain DevOps infrastructure using Github and AWS
Ability to communicate effectively and collaborate with a diverse team
Ability to learn more about product development lifecycle

Roles And Responsibilities

Develop and maintain backend features using Python programming
Implement, and maintain production-grade RESTful APIs (e.g., FastAPI).
Implement and maintain automated tests
Develop and maintain DevOps infrastructure – using Github Actions, custom windows runner, JFrog Artifactory, CloudFormation, Terraform, AWS API Gateway, AWS S3, AWS Lambda & AWS EKS

Qualifications / Requirements

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or related field (or equivalent industry experience)
Strong programming skills in Python and proficiency with object-oriented paradigms
Working knowledge of Powershell and Batch scripts, Windows packaging tool like MSIX
Familiarity with REST APIs (preferably FastAPI or similar) and containerisation (Docker) as well as Windows/Linux native programming

Desired Characteristics

Demonstrated track record working in a team and as an individual contributor
An interest in robotics, system integration or a strong desire to learn.
Offline programming of robotic systems using software such as Siemens NX and Fanuc Roboguide.
Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
Ability to manage priorities in a fast-paced environment
