Job Specifications

• The role: Senior Back End Engineer (Java | SpringBoot)

• Client: UK Government department

• Contract: 6 months – with strong possibility of extension (not guaranteed)a

• Start Date: 2nd March 2026

• Day Rate: £550 to £600 per day (OUTSIDE IR35)

• Location: Fully remote WITHIN the UK

• Hours: Mon to Fri

** You’ll be fully clear to work in the UK with NO Visa or sponsorship requirements **

Role Overview:

Senior Back End Engineer is required to support the upgrade of an existing government system. The role focuses on improving performance, strengthening backend services, and delivering enhancements to core platform functionality.

Responsibilities:

- Design, build and maintain backend services

- Improve system performance and reliability

- Work with existing Java and Spring Boot services

- Contribute to a stable, well-governed delivery environment

Required Skills & Experience:

- Strong Java and SpringBoot experience

- PostgreSQL database experience

- Minimum 5+ years commercial experience

- Proven backend engineering capability

- Experience working in regulated or public sector environments
