Description:
We are seeking a contract contingent Software Engineer (level III or IV) to join a high performing IT team that is transforming operations from reactive crisis management to a proactive, resilient, always on model. You will build full stack solutions that leverage AI to predict issues before they occur, surface patterns in operational data, enrich incident tickets with critical context, and accelerate the communication of operational events.
This role is designed for engineers who thrive on autonomy and ownership. You will pick up work with minimal supervision, drive tasks through to completion, and collaborate closely with a team of extremely high performers to deliver measurable impact on reliability and speed of response.
Key Responsibilities:
Design & build full stack solutions that integrate Angular front ends with Python services and APIs, running on AWS cloud infrastructure.
Operational intelligence & AI: implement ML/LLM powered capabilities (e.g., anomaly and pattern detection, ticket enrichment, summarization/communication of events) and integrate them into production workflows, preferred experience with AWS Bedrock and Sagemaker.
Data & integration: develop services and pipelines that acquire, transform, and serve operational signals to predictive and generative components.
Quality & resilience: deliver production grade code with strong testing practices; build in reliability, security, and observability from the start.
Agile execution: independently break down work, manage your backlog items, and provide clear progress updates; participate in code reviews and technical design discussions.
Partnering with IT operations: collaborate with stakeholders to translate operational needs into robust, user centric software that reduces mean time to detect/resolve issues.
Documentation & knowledge sharing: produce clear technical documentation and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement.
Scope by level:
Software Engineer III: Own end to end delivery of complex features; contribute architectural input within a product area; work with minimal supervision.
Software Engineer IV: Lead design for multi component systems; define patterns and guardrails; mentor peers; coordinate across teams to deliver cross cutting initiatives.
Required Qualifications:
Full stack engineering experience, including modern front end development with Angular and TypeScript, and back end services with Python or TypeScript.
AWS infrastructure and cloud services experience (designing, deploying, and operating workloads in the cloud).
Hands on LLM experience, including building, integrating, and operating LLM capabilities in production contexts.
Proven ability to work independently, proactively pick up work, and carry tasks through to completion with high code quality.
Demonstrated success collaborating within an agile environment and communicating clearly with cross functional partners.
Strong fundamentals in software engineering (clean code, testing, performance, security minded development).
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience applying AI/ML/LLMs specifically to IT operations use cases (e.g., anomaly detection, incident/ticket enrichment, event summarization).
Familiarity with event driven and/or streaming patterns for ingesting and processing operational data.
Depth in observability practices (logging, metrics, tracing) and building resilient, secure, and scalable cloud services.
Infrastructure as Code with Terraform: Experience defining and managing AWS infrastructure using Terraform (modules, workspaces, remote state, policy-as-code), with a focus on repeatable, secure, and observable deployments.
Experience shaping technical designs and mentoring engineers (especially relevant at level IV).
Working Style & Team Culture:
High ownership, low ego: We bias toward action, value clarity, and hold a high bar for quality.
Autonomy with accountability: Engineers are trusted to operate with minimal supervision and deliver outcomes.
Collaborative excellence: We move quickly, give direct feedback, and support each other to do our best work.
Continuous improvement: We iterate, measure, and refine to improve reliability and user experience.
