Job Summary

As a Software Engineer on the Platform team at AutogenAI, you will work on a combination of application infrastructure and developer infrastructure challenges to make our product and product team go faster This can include many topics; improving auth/RBAC, building feature flag tooling to facilitate rollout of new features, spotting re-usable tooling and packaging it, or transitioning our repositories to a monorepo to improve build times. You will be joining a global team of DevOps Engineers and Software Engineers. You will work closely alongside DevOps Engineers to improve our Platform, so this is an ideal role for a software engineer eager to learn more about DevOps/Infrastructure, and keen on doing a bit of everything. While a lot of the work has a focus on improving things behind the scenes, we are expecting to play a key role in the business next year as more enterprise customers onboard and require platform changes to effectively integrate with them – so there are many opportunities ahead to have direct business impact through this role

What You'll Be Responsible For

Building and maintaining application infrastructure: This is the layer of the product that isn’t tied to a specific feature, but impacts the whole product – e.g. auth, RBAC, logging, monitoring. You will work closely within your team to make major improvements and changes to the application infrastructure.
Improving the developer experience at AutogenAI: This encompasses deployment pipelines, local/remote development tooling, and anything that might improve the developer experience. This will be a combination of planned major improvements, and ad hoc improvements that you might spot and implement in an agile way.
Collaborating with the wider engineering team: You will have a lot of autonomy in this role to suggest the next improvements to implement; this means you should be building ties with the wider engineering team so you can figure out what might help them. You will collaborate with them through joint projects, troubleshooting, and knowledge sharing.

What You'll Bring To The Team

Technical Expertise: You have experience implementing changes in your previous roles. You’re eager to bring those skills to the table and make changes.
Communication Skills: You can quickly build rapport inside and outside of your team. You’ll learn how other teams work, and try to spot ways we can improve their lives.
Adaptability and Initiative: You’re enthusiastic about taking on new challenges and learning about new domains. You’re not afraid to point out inefficiencies and suggest improvements
Ownership: You care about the changes you make and the code you maintain; you want to see things working

Requirements

Experience: 2+ years working on technical projects
Technical Skills: Fluency in a programming language; proficiency with relational databases; familiarity with common platform tooling, such as Docker, scripting, aws commands (or equivalent in the cloud provider you have used), or GitHub Actions
Interest in Platform Engineering: The most important! We want you to be eager about learning and getting stuck in.

Preferred Qualifications

Typescript/Python experience: These are the main languages we use
React experience: Our domain doesn’t have much frontend work but does have some in our internal tooling. You don’t need to love it, but it will be helpful if you have some experience and willingness to knock out the occasional frontend task!
Platform/DevOps Experience: You’ll be working closely with DevOps Engineers; however, it will be helpful if you have the skills to unblock yourself on DevOps tasks
