Job Summary

The Infrastructure Engineer is responsible for designing, deploying, and maintaining the organization’s on-premises virtualization stack and enterprise Microsoft Active Directory services. This includes the administration of domain controllers, Group Policy, DNS, and authentication infrastructure to ensure secure, scalable, and resilient IT operations. The ideal candidate brings deep technical expertise in Hyper-V, Windows Server environments, and automation tools, paired with excellent communication skills and a commitment to exceptional service.

Key Responsibilities

Virtualization & Infrastructure:
Lead the design, build, and deployment of a new Microsoft Hyper-V virtualization environment from the ground up.
Manage and maintain virtualization platforms to ensure high availability and performance
Implement, manage and monitor high availability (HA) and disaster recovery (DR) strategies for virtualized environments o Administer standalone on-premises servers at remote locations
Participate in cost analysis reviews for new workloads (cloud vs. on-prem)

Active Directory & Identity Services:
Administer Microsoft Active Directory, domain controllers, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and authentication services
Manage domain controller replication, site topology, and AD schema
Support hybrid identity environments integrated with Azure

Security & Compliance:
Implement endpoint security, device compliance policies, and GPO enforcement
Utilize Azure ARC, Azure Automanage, and Microsoft Defender for Endpoint for asset and security management
Perform system hardening, vulnerability remediation, and compliance monitoring
Ensure patch management across cloud and on-prem environments

Automation & Scripting:
Develop PowerShell scripts to automate administrative tasks
Maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions using Terraform or Bicep

Support & Collaboration:
Provide escalated support to 1st and 2nd tier IT staff
Resolve infrastructure issues in coordination with internal teams and third-party vendors
Communicate service health advisories to stakeholders.
Develop and maintain technical documentation, SOPs, and best practices
Contribute to project planning and solution delivery aligned with business goals

Qualifications

Experience:

3+ years of experience in virtualization and Microsoft Active Directory administration
3+ years of experience with Microsoft Hyper-V

Technical Skills

Expertise in Microsoft Hyper-V
Proficiency in Windows Server (2016, 2019, 2022)
Experience with SAN, NAS, and hyper-converged storage solutions o Understanding of networking as it relates to virtualization (VLANs, vSwitches, VXLAN, etc.)
Knowledge of backup and DR solutions such as Azure Backup, Veeam
Proficient in Infrastructure as Code and scripting (Terraform, Bicep, PowerShell)
Familiar with managing enterprise server platforms like Dell PowerEdge, OpenManage, iDRAC o Strong documentation skills and knowledge of ITIL-based service management

Work Environment & Requirements

Up to 30 days of travel per year
Occasional after-hours or weekend work for maintenance, upgrades, or emergency response
Remote work availability can be discussed based on company policy
On-call availability 24/7, including one weekend per quarter
Willingness to travel on short notice, potentially for extended periods, in case of critical incidents or emergencies
Valid passport and ability to travel internationally
