The Data Architect / Data Platform Consultant is responsible for reviewing technology choices, validating solution designs, and providing expert architectural recommendations for the firm’s next-generation Market Data & Quant Research Platform.
Key Responsibilities
Architecture & Strategic Guidance
Review and assess technology decisions made by engineering and research teams, ensuring alignment with the target-state architecture.
Recommend best-fit technologies (AWS S3, Parquet, Iceberg, Snowflake, Databricks, lineage tools) based on performance, scale, cost, and business needs.
Validate architectural patterns for ingestion, historical data management, time-series storage, and firm-wide data platform expansion.
Required Skills & Experience
10–15+ years in data architecture, data platforms, or cloud-native data engineering within financial services or capital markets.
Strong experience reviewing and guiding solutions based on:
AWS S3, Glue, IAM
Parquet, Iceberg, Delta/columnar formats
Snowflake, Databricks, or other cloud analytics platforms
Expertise in data lineage, metadata, governance models, and platform security.
Proven experience advising technical teams, reviewing designs, and providing architectural recommendations.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in systematic trading, hedge funds, quant research, or time-series market data platforms will be a plus
Familiarity with data vendor onboarding (Bloomberg, Refinitiv, Snowflake Marketplace).
