Senior Data Scientist - Global Insurance
Our client, a leading organisation within the insurance sector, is seeking a Senior Data Scientist to join their growing analytics and data capability. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced professional to drive data-led decision-making, shape predictive modelling strategy, and deliver impactful insights across pricing, underwriting, claims and customer behaviour.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead the development and deployment of advanced statistical models, machine learning solutions, and predictive analytics to support business strategy
Collaborate with cross-functional teams including underwriting, actuarial, pricing, and engineering to translate complex data into meaningful, actionable insights
Own end-to-end model lifecycle: data gathering, feature engineering, model development, validation, deployment and monitoring
Mentor junior data scientists and contribute to the team’s technical best practices and standards
Communicate findings to senior stakeholders through clear visualisations, reports and presentations
Leverage large-scale datasets to improve pricing accuracy, detect fraud, optimise claims processes and enhance customer segmentation
Experience:
Proven experience in a Data Science or Machine Learning role, ideally within insurance, financial services or another regulated industry
Strong proficiency in Python (NumPy, Pandas, Scikit-learn, PyTorch/TensorFlow), R or similar analytical languages
Solid experience with machine learning, statistical modelling, predictive analytics and time-series forecasting
Hands-on experience working with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP
Strong SQL skills and experience with data warehousing and big-data technologies (e.g., Spark, Databricks, Hadoop)
Experience using visualisation tools: Power BI, Tableau or Looker
Ideally an understanding of insurance analytics such as pricing models, risk modelling, loss prediction or fraud detection
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
