About the Role
We are looking for a skilled Backend Engineer to join our team and help build scalable, high-performance systems. This role involves designing and enhancing RESTful APIs, improving system reliability, and collaborating across teams to deliver robust solutions for our commerce and payments platforms.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and scale RESTful APIs using Java, Spring Boot, and microservices architecture.
Implement best practices for observability, monitoring, and reliability, including instrumentation and alerting.
Optimize performance and resiliency of SLA-critical APIs to ensure high availability and fast response times.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams within Payments and broader Commerce domains.
Contribute to shared frameworks, libraries, and engineering standards to improve code quality and maintainability.
dRequired Qualifications
Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science or related field.
Hands-on experience building and operating production-grade web applications.
Strong knowledge of data structures, algorithms, and large-scale system design.
Expertise in Java, Spring Boot, RESTful services, and microservices.
Familiarity with cloud-native architectures and distributed systems.
Experience with SQL/NoSQL databases (e.g., Cassandra, Couchbase, DynamoDB, Redis), including schema design and query optimization.
Proficiency with observability and monitoring tools such as Grafana, Prometheus, or Splunk.
Excellent problem-solving, debugging, and analytical skills, along with strong communication and collaboration abilities.
Nice to Have
Exposure to front-end technologies like JavaScript, TypeScript, React, HTML, and CSS for building modern UIs.
