Role
This role is based in London, and reports to the Finance Director. This role is a 9 month fixed term contract, covering maternity leave, with a possibility to extend further.
Description
We are looking for a Finance Manager - Reporting to lead our financial reporting operations during an exciting period of growth. You are genuinely motivated by delivering accurate, insightful financial information that drives business decisions and understand how your work enables the organisation to scale sustainably. Technical excellence is important, but so is your attitude—we need someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, takes ownership, and isn't afraid to roll up their sleeves. A qualified accountant with strong FRS102 knowledge is preferred, but what matters most is that you embody the points below. You'll be supported to grow and develop—whether through your day-to-day role, working closely with the Finance Director, or being part of a vibrant, forward-thinking company. This role will report directly to the Finance Director during the Financial Controller's maternity leave, stepping up to assume broader responsibilities.
Role specifics
As a Finance Manager - Reporting, you will have cross-functional responsibilities to deliver comprehensive financial reporting, team leadership, and operational finance oversight.
Month End & Financial Reporting - You will lead the month-end close process for the group, ensuring all entities close accurately and within tight deadlines. Prepare monthly management accounts and produce detailed variance analysis that tells the story behind the numbers. Present insights to the Finance Director that highlight key drivers of performance and support strategic decision-making. Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations for all key accounts monthly.
Technical Accounting Excellence - Serve as the technical accounting resource for the Finance team. Research and apply FRS102 standards to complex transactions, handle technical queries from the business, and ensure proper documentation of accounting policies. Support the production of year-end financial statements and liaise with external tax and accounting service providers to maintain compliance.
Audit Leadership - Joint lead on audit processes. Coordinate with external auditors, manage audit timetables, ensure timely provision of information, and minimize audit queries through excellent preparation. Build strong working relationships with audit partners.
Accounts Payable Oversight - Ensure the accounts payable function runs smoothly with timely payment processing, strong vendor relationships, and robust controls. Maintain efficient payment cycles while ensuring proper authorization and documentation.
Debt Management - Oversee the debt management function to ensure strong cash collection. Monitor aged debt, manage collection processes, and implement strategies to reduce debtor days. Protect cash flow while maintaining positive member relationships.
Payment Authorisations & Controls - Act as 2nd authorizer for HSBC payment releases and payment releases on Spendesk. Own Spendesk oversight and controls, ensuring proper use, approval workflows, and policy compliance across the organization.
Capital Projects Support - Support the Finance Director on capital expenditure analysis, approval processes, and financing implications. Assist with financial modeling for new projects and development opportunities. Contribute to cash flow forecasting, particularly for capital projects.
