WHY JOIN THE TEAM?
Roles are on offer for this apprenticeship across several different teams, including:
People Services team: People Services are at the heart of the HR support to both colleagues and Team Leaders in the BBC. We provide advisory support on all areas of the employee lifecycle, enable our data to be held securely, and used correctly to provide insight for informed decision making, and transact changes in our employees records accurately. Our support covers both UK and international colleagues, alongside our extended workforce teams, and work in partnership with our stakeholders in the wider HR team. As an apprentice you’ll experience a breath of experience during your time with us and will work in multiple teams on a structured rotation place that will provide the skills and knowledge to set you up for a career in HR.
Extended Workforce team: The Extended Workforce is a key support function responsible for ensuring a positive experience when hiring a Freelance worker within the BBC. We manage workers engaged under contract—including freelancers, contractors, consultants, and temporary staff supplied by REED—to complete a project or fill a role for a defined time. While they are not BBC employees, this significant part of the BBC's workforce includes a wide range of roles from developers and production staff to actors, writers, and presenters. We provide end-to-end advice and support, covering services like Engagement Status Assessments, contract compliance, freelance expenses, managing the REED relationship, and providing business training.
Your Key Responsibilities And Impact
As a HR Support (HRA26) apprentice, this is brilliant opportunity to learn, grow, and contribute – you will:
Work alongside a dedicated HR team within the BBC, learning the ins and outs of their processes
Provide support to colleagues and contribute to making the BBC a great place to work
Assist with day-to-day HR tasks, which will vary depending on the team you are placed into
Develop strong communication and organisation skills, which will set you up perfectly for a career in HR, or allow you to take these transferable skills to another area!
You’ll study for your industry recognised apprenticeship qualification, learning both on and off the job. This means you’ll spend at least one day a week studying for a Level 3 Human Resources Support apprenticeship with our learning provider, using its virtual delivery platform.
