Job SummaryThe Software Developer - FAST GenTax System will be responsible for designing, coding, testing, documenting, and supporting software components within the FAST GenTax environment. This role involves implementing enhancements and production fixes using C#, PostgreSQL, and Visual Studio, while adhering to established programming and project standards. The developer will work both independently and collaboratively with other engineers and stakeholders, participating in structured code reviews and ensuring timely, high-quality deliverables.Key Responsibilities
Analyze, design, code, test, and document solutions following FAST GenTax system standards.
Implement SQR change requests and track changes through the FAST Central Repository (FCR).
Coordinate work with other developers and participate in code reviews and walkthroughs.
Plan and manage all process steps related to assigned development tasks.
Review and understand the Application Team’s work plan and provide ongoing status updates.
Anticipate, identify, and resolve technical issues and risks.
Participate in process improvement initiatives and recommend best practices.
Collaborate with project managers, architects, and business stakeholders to define and refine technical requirements.
Convert complex functional requirements into technical designs and executable code.
Prepare flowcharts, block diagrams, and algorithms to support system logic.
Apply advanced knowledge in computer science, engineering, or mathematics to solve system challenges.
Top 5 Skills
Experience with one or more FAST applications: GenTax, FAST DV-VS, FAST UI-PL, or FAST CSE.
Strong understanding of FAST Core Components.
Proficiency in C#.
Experience with PostgreSQL databases.
Expertise in using Visual Studio for development.
Required Skills
Deep functional and process knowledge of application development lifecycles.
Proven ability to plan, execute, and manage development tasks independently.
Strong collaboration and communication skills (written and verbal).
Ability to troubleshoot, debug, and resolve system issues efficiently.
Competency in software modeling, database design, and performance optimization.
Preferred Skills
Experience in large-scale government or enterprise FAST environments.
Familiarity with structured code review and version control practices.
Knowledge of SQR scripting and deployment within FAST GenTax systems.
Ability to present complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
Additional Skills
Strong analytical and mathematical problem-solving capabilities.
Familiarity with data modeling and scientific or engineering problem formulations.
Experience converting symbolic formulations and algorithms into executable processes.
