Job Title: Quality Test Engineer – Automation

Location: Hybrid – Cardiff

Salary/Rate: Up to £509 a day inside IR35

Start Date: November 2025

Job Type: 6-month contract (with scope to extend)

Company Introduction

We are looking for a skilled Quality Test Engineer with expertise in both manual and automated testing.

The successful candidate will have experience in automation using Postman and other tools, while also playing a vital part in our clients manual testing requirements.

We are particularly interested in candidates with experience migrating Cucumber (Ruby) automated tests into Postman, Playwright, or similar tools.

Required Skills/Experience

Strong collaborative spirit with a commitment to achieving the best outcomes for the team
Broad technical expertise and enthusiasm for technology
Ability to document test cases clearly and concisely for ease of understanding by other team members
Solid experience in quality assurance (QA) and a deep understanding of QA methodologies
Comprehensive knowledge of the software development lifecycle
Proficiency in developing and executing automated tests using tools such as Postman, or transferable skills from similar tools
Experience automating test execution using CI/CD tools such as GitHub Actions
Experience working in or a strong understanding of agile methodologies, particularly Kanban or Scrum, and a willingness to work within such teams

Job Responsibilities/Objectives

Defining and maintaining an effective test strategy for the team
Developing automated tests for new features and keeping existing automation packs up to date
Migrating automated tests from Cucumber (Ruby) to Playwright, Postman, or Bruno, depending on requirements
Performing functional and regression testing, using both manual and automated approaches
Contributing to the design and development of new features and solutions
Continuously improving existing automation frameworks through investigation and implementation of enhancements
Reporting, tracking, and ensuring timely resolution of bugs
Integrating both new and existing automated regression tests into GitHub CI/CD pipelines
Collaborating closely with product owners, project managers, and other development teams to deliver high-quality products and enhancements
