About The Role

The SSD Security Firmware Intern will work closely with the Security and Firmware Development teams to gain hands-on experience in the design, development, and testing of security firmware for Solid State Drives (SSDs). The intern will assist in analyzing security policies, implementing firmware updates, and contributing to the improvement of security measures in SSDs.

Responsibilities

Assist in the development and testing of security firmware for SSDs.
Implement security features and Industry security standards (TCG opal, DICE, SPDM, FIPS, Crypto algorithms) and updates based on security policies and requirements.
Analyze existing security policies and propose improvements.
Assist in the creation of new security policies and guidelines specific to SSDs.
Conduct unit tests and integration tests for SSD security firmware.
Debug and resolve firmware-related issues.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of security firmware.
Work closely with Security Engineers and Firmware Developers to address security challenges specific to SSDs.

Qualifications

Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree program in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Information Security, Cybersecurity, or a related field.
Basic knowledge of C/C++ programming.
Familiarity with embedded systems and firmware development.
Understanding of security principles and protocols (e.g., encryption, authentication).
Experience with version control systems like Git.
Familiarity with security tools and frameworks (e.g., OpenSSL, mbedtls).
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
Good communication and teamwork skills.
Attention to detail and ability to work independently.

Preferred Qualifications

Exposure to security standards: TCG Opal, SPDM, DICE, FIPS 140-2/3, or similar.
Hands-on experience with cryptographic libraries (OpenSSL, mbedTLS, or hardware crypto accelerators).
Knowledge of SSD architecture, NVMe protocol, or storage security fundamentals.
Experience with debugging tools (JTAG, logic analyzers, oscilloscopes) or firmware simulators.
Strong analytical mindset with ability to translate security policies into technical implementation.
