The Finance Business Partner – Technology plays a key role in driving financial performance and strategic decision-making across the Technology function. Acting as a trusted advisor to the CTO and their leadership team, this role provides commercial insight, financial analysis, and challenge to ensure effective use of technology investments and alignment with business objectives.

The ideal candidate will combine strong financial expertise with an understanding of technology operations, digital transformation, and project portfolio management.

Key Responsibilities

Serve as the primary finance partner for the CTO and Technology leadership team, supporting decision-making with accurate financial insight.
Lead budgeting, forecasting, and long-term planning for the Technology function, including IT operations, infrastructure, and digital transformation initiatives.
Support business cases for major technology investments, ensuring clear articulation of ROI, payback, and financial risk.
Provide financial oversight for technology projects and programmes, tracking spend, benefits, and alignment with corporate strategy.
Analyse CapEx vs. OpEx allocations and optimise accounting treatment of software and systems development costs.
Partner with Procurement and IT Vendor Management teams to review supplier contracts and identify cost efficiencies.
Deliver timely and accurate management reporting, commentary, and variance analysis for technology cost centres.
Support continuous improvement in financial processes and reporting within the Technology and Finance functions.
Collaborate with Finance, Transformation, and PMO teams on cross-functional initiatives such as system implementations, post-merger integrations, and technology rationalisation.
Provide clear financial insight to help balance innovation and operational cost control.

Skills & Experience

Proven experience as a Finance Business Partner or FP&A professional, ideally supporting Technology or Operations functions.
Strong analytical and commercial acumen with the ability to interpret complex financial data.
Understanding of technology cost drivers, IT investment cycles, and digital transformation programmes.
Excellent stakeholder management skills — able to challenge and influence senior leaders.
Proficiency with financial systems and advanced Excel modelling; experience with ERP or cloud-based finance tools advantageous.
Strong communication and presentation skills with the ability to translate finance into clear business insights.
