Head of Quantity Surveying (Commercial) – EV Infrastructure

Contract Position – London (Hybrid – 3 days per week in office)

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Head of Quantity Surveying (Commercial) to provide expert commercial leadership and cost management oversight on a contract basis within our rapidly growing EV infrastructure business.

This strategic role is ideal for a Senior Quantity Surveyor or Commercial Manager ready to take ownership of the commercial and financial performance of major infrastructure delivery projects. You will ensure projects are costed accurately, delivered profitably, and managed in full compliance with contractual and commercial requirements.

You’ll oversee all cost planning, procurement, contract negotiation, and financial control activities, supporting the business from bid stage through to project completion.

Key Responsibilities

Lead the quantity surveying and commercial management function across EV infrastructure projects.
Oversee cost estimation, forecasting, and budget management from tender through delivery.
Manage contract negotiation, administration, and change control (NEC or similar).
Provide commercial guidance on risk, margin, and pricing strategy to senior leadership.
Review and approve subcontractor quotations, valuations, and variations.
Ensure all financial reporting and cost tracking aligns with project and business objectives.
Collaborate closely with delivery, engineering, and finance teams to monitor performance and profitability.
Support bid and tender processes through accurate cost modelling and commercial input.
Mentor and develop junior QS or commercial staff to build team capability.

Experience & Qualifications

Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor or Senior QS within infrastructure, energy, utilities, or construction sectors.
Deep understanding of cost management, contracts, and commercial governance.
Strong experience with NEC3/4 or equivalent contract forms.
Familiarity with EV charging, civil works, or infrastructure delivery cost structures is highly desirable.
Demonstrable experience managing project budgets, financial reporting, and risk control.
Degree (or equivalent experience) in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, Cost Engineering, or a related discipline.

Excellent numerical and analytical skills with a focus on commercial outcomes.
Confident communicator with strong negotiation and stakeholder management ability.
Detail-oriented and proactive in identifying and resolving commercial issues.
Strong leadership and mentoring capabilities to guide a growing commercial team.

Working Model

Hybrid: 3 days per week in our London office, with flexibility for remote working.
Primarily an office-based commercial role with minimal site work required.
