Training contracts

Based in our Belfast office, this training contract is designed to provide you with a high-quality experience and exposure to high-calibre work. You'll gain early client exposure and make an immediate impact, guided and supervised by colleagues who are passionate and supportive experts.

We provide a unique opportunity for individuals to develop skills in problem solving, advocacy, legal drafting and managing client expectations. We believe in giving our trainees high levels of responsibility and as they progress, supervised ownership of their own case load to achieve the skills required to be a high performing solicitor. To be eligible to apply, you will need to be in your final year of a qualifying law degree or have already completed this.

Applications for our direct training contract opportunity open on Monday 15 September and close on Friday 21 November. If successful, you will be invited to complete your online assessment after this date and will need to do so by Monday 8 December. ?

Structure

At Foot Anstey McKees, our training and development is supplemented with regular internal training sessions and seminars with a hands-on approach involving lawyers across all levels of our firm, from newly qualified solicitors to senior partners.

During your two-year training contract, you will gain experience across a variety of teams and become knowledgeable in many different areas including:?

Banking & Financial Services
Property
Litigation
Corporate & Commercial

Seat Rotation

Seat rotation will, depending on business needs and requirements, take the following structure:

Seat 1: September - December
Seat 2: January - December (During attendance at IPLS)
Seat 3: January - August

Learning and Development

Each trainee will have a supervising Partner (Master) and a supervising Solicitor / Associate (Mentor).?Your Master and Mentor will meet with you at the outset of your training contract to set some initial learning objectives and development goals and these will be revisited and reviewed throughout the course of your contract.
