Backend Software Engineer (ML/Python)

W2 Contract

Salary Range: $124,800 - $145,600 per year

Location: Remote Role - PST

Job Summary:

We are the engineering team for an internal service that generates, manages, and consumes datasets, features, and embeddings used for ML training. Our team is rolling out the second generation of the services and migrating customers from the previous service to the new one. This role will involve working with the engineering team, EPM, and customers, and will work on migration tasks. This will include tooling for moving data and working with customers to change their Python clients to start using the new SDK. Our team also supports multiple customers for our next-generation services. The job role requires being able to work with multiple partner teams and customers to deploy our services in these accounts.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Migrate public data sets via a Python tool.
Coordinate with customers to migrate their datasets and provide support during the migration.
Help customers change their code to use the new SDK
Changes to services written in Java.
Mitigate and/or resolve issues identified during migration.
Identify and fix issues in the migration tool and/or add new functions to the tool.
Assist EPMs in collecting metrics to track the progress of migration.
Deploy the services to new accounts, working closely with partners and engineers.

Requirements and Qualifications:

Thorough knowledge of Python, Spark, Java, and PostgreSQL
Experience working with infrastructure technologies like Kube, Helm, etc., and familiarity with Data/ML infrastructure and operations.
Experience working with production systems and knowledge of deployments, releases, and CI/CD pipelines
Understanding of working with distributed systems
Understanding of technologies like Spark and Iceberg
General knowledge about AWS S3.
Good communication skills with internal customers

Preferred Qualifications:

Knowledge of Superset
Familiarity with Machine Learning lifecycle and tools,e.g., PyTorch, Tensor Flow.
