Transmission Engineer / Tester - Shipboard Fibre Optic Installation (USA)

Telcomarine is a specialist recruitment partner to the global subsea telecoms industry, supporting clients on some of the world's largest cable installation and repair projects. We are now seeking an experienced Transmission Engineer/Tester to join a major shipboard subsea fibre optic cable installation project in US waters.

Role Description

Perform OTDR/COTDR testing of submarine fibre optic cables
Conduct BU and repeater testing, optical amplifier checks, and wet plant system validation
Operate and maintain Power Feed Equipment (PFE) during installation and repair
Act as Power Safety Officer, issuing Power Safety Messages (PSM)
Prepare testing reports, maintain logs, and coordinate with shipboard technical teams
Maintain, calibrate, and troubleshoot fibre optic test equipment
6 weeks duration

Qualifications

Proven experience as Transmission Engineer / Tester on subsea cable projects
Hands-on with OTDR, COTDR, OSA, and PFE systems
Valid C-1/D or B1-OCS visa (B1/B2 not accepted)
Immediate availability for mobilisation
