Senior Research Technician (105272)

Fixed Term Contract | Full Time| 1.0 FTE | 36.5 hpw

There is sufficient funding to recruit a Senior Research Technician on Grade 5 for up to max of 13 months, restricted to end by 31/05/2027

An excellent opportunity is available for a Senior Research Technician to join the research group of Dr Emily Lane-Hill within the Neuroscience Cluster in the School of Life Sciences. The post is for 13-months, full time and is available for an immediate start.

The project, funded by Race Against Dementia, aims to determine the molecular mechanisms that underlie tau-induced neuronal and network dysfunction in neurodegenerative diseases.

You will utilise a combination of molecular biology and imaging-based techniques to characterise interactions between tau protein and targets such as voltage-gated ion channels. There may also be opportunities to develop further skills in electrophysiology and in vivo work throughout the project.

About You

Applicants must hold a BSc in a relevant field; examples include Neuroscience or Biomedical Science.

Prior practical laboratory experience, an existing skill set in molecular biology and a keen interest in neurodegeneration research are essential.

The successful candidate is expected to be an active participant in a growing research group, so successful time and project management is essential. As well as demonstration of good communication skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
