UK Chief Architect
Reporting to: UK Chief Digital Officer - Technology Group
The UK Chief Architect is a senior leadership position within the UK Technology Group, reporting directly to the UK Chief Digital Officer. This role is pivotal in shaping the architectural direction of our technology strategy, ensuring alignment with business goals, customer outcomes, and Fujitsu's global vision.
As the UK Chief Architect, you will lead the design of scalable, secure, and innovative technology architectures across our strategic offerings, driving modernization, integration, and consistency across the enterprise. You will be the strategic custodian of our technology foundation and help manage the overall technology roadmap for the UK business.
Key Responsibilities
Enterprise Architecture Leadership
* Define and own the UK enterprise architecture vision and principles, ensuring alignment with Fujitsu global architecture strategy.
* Champion architecture as a strategic discipline, embedding best practices, governance, and oversight into all technology-led change programs.
* Lead architecture reviews and boards, ensuring designs are sustainable, value-driven, and customer-centric. Lead the technology change within our business.
* Lead, shape & inspire our technologist community (CTO/Architects), managing the community direction and standards.
Support UK Strategic portfolio and Offering Development
* Provide architectural leadership for the UK Strategic portfolio, including Digital Workplace, Hybrid IT (Cloud & Platforms), Network & Security, App Dev, Management & Integration.
* Shape and assure architectures for new and evolving offerings, ensuring they are technically sound and commercially viable. Platform Engineering, Data and AI.
* Serve as a key advisor to portfolio owners and offering leads, ensuring architectural integrity across the full solution lifecycle.
* Supporting the creation of a standard tooling ecosystem to support both offering creation, management and evolution.
AI & Innovation
* Collaborate closely with the new Head of AI and engineering leaders to support innovation in AI, data platforms, and automation.
* Embed architectural thinking into the early stages of innovation, guiding the development of modern, modular, and composable services.
* Support the development of Quantum and Advanced Compute (HPC/Super Computer) services into the UK Market
Technology Governance & Standards
* Managing existing/establish architecture governance frameworks and assurance processes to ensure design quality, compliance, and alignment with strategic goals.
* Define and manage technology standards, principles, and reference architectures, promoting reuse and simplification across the UK business.
Collaboration Across Technology Practices and Partners
* Work closely with global and UK technology partners (e.g., Microsoft, AWS, Oracle, ServiceNow) to ensure architectural fit and acceleration of partner-led solutions.
* Provide architectural oversight for partner-enabled offerings and ensure integration with internal platforms and systems.
Strategic Guidance and Future Planning
* Help maintain a forward-looking technology roadmap for the UK, identifying disruptive trends, emerging technologies, and opportunities for transformation.
* Act as a strategic advisor to executive stakeholders, offering insights on architecture trade-offs, technology strategy, and investment decisions.
Key Skills & Competencies
* Proven leadership in enterprise or solution architecture, ideally within a large, matrixed technology organization.
* Experience of leading the technology change and continuous evolution within a company.
* Deep understanding of modern technology architectures, including cloud-native, hybrid IT, microservices, integration, and security models.
* Ability to balance technical excellence with business practicality, translating architectural principles into executable roadmaps.
* Experience working with global platforms and shaping architectures aligned with both customer needs and internal capability evolution.
* Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence at all levels.
* Comfortable working in ambiguous, fast-changing environments with competing priorities.
Qualifications & Experience
* Extensive experience in enterprise or solution architecture roles within the IT services or systems integration sector.
* 5+ years of experience leading complex technical change
* Track record of leading architectural strategy and governance across complex programs and organizations. * Hands-on knowledge of modern digital platforms, cloud services (AWS, Azure, GCP), and integration technologies.
* Experience supporting offering development, portfolio design, or large-scale transformation initiatives.
* Experience with architectural certifications (e.g., TOGAF, Azure Solutions Architect, AWS Certified Architect) are highly desirable.
