Job Description

**Job title:** Software Engineer, LiveDesign **Role Summary:** Develop, optimize, and maintain high‑performance, distributed components for a collaborative web application that powers Schrodinger’s enterprise modeling platform. Work within an agile, cross‑functional team to deliver features that meet product goals while ensuring scalability, reliability, and performance. **Expectations:** - Apply best engineering practices and rigorous code quality standards. - Communicate effectively with product, design, and QA stakeholders. - Manage independent work timelines and self‑direct learning. - Drive technical excellence by researching and championing emerging technologies. **Key Responsibilities:** - Design, build, and test distributed, high‑performance components for data aggregation, transformation, reporting, and large‑scale computations. - Maintain the core enterprise solution’s scalability, redundancy, and reliability. - Develop and execute comprehensive performance tests and monitoring frameworks. - Participate in code reviews and enforce strong code quality. - Collaborate closely with product designers, developers, and testers in an agile sprint environment. **Required Skills:** - Linux operating system proficiency. - Version control experience (Git, SVN). - Experience integrating with third‑party software via APIs, scripts, or automation. - Working knowledge of relational and non‑relational databases. - Design and implementation of high‑performance, scalable, distributed systems. - Microservices architecture familiarity. - Familiarity with container orchestration (Kubernetes or similar). - Experience with log processing, data analysis, and performance testing tools (e.g., Selenium, Locust). - Ability to build systems spanning multiple machines and handle large‑scale distributed computing (Kafka, Hadoop, Spark, MapReduce). **Required Education & Certifications:** - Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field. - Relevant certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Developer, Kubernetes Administrator) are a plus.
